HNT Gordon Planes makes a range of high end woodworking tools from wood, brass and steel, which are sold world-wide. Sourcing high quality exotic woods for our tools is always a challenge. We have been sourcing our ebony, both black and stripy from Agora Timbers for the past 25 years. This ebony has always been top notch both in color, density and available in various sizes to suit our work. For instance if we need a large flitch of black ebony to make a matching set of planes, Agora has it. I don’t know any other business that can say that. The staff at Agora are also top notch and easy to deal with. This is a 5 star company that I would recommend to anyone.

25+years of Sustainable, values-aligned dealings for

Smith & Gray Furniture Makers have had dealings with  Theo for 25+ years and have always found him to be a very genuine, honest and reliable man. David is a chip off the old block and his values mirror his fathers. The quality of Agora’s timber can be very hard to match as they source their timber directly from sawmills , both overseas and in Australia. If you are ever after something unique or hard to find Agora can often come up with the goods. We have purchased all sorts of NG Rosewood, European Oak, French Oak, Vitex and Ebony from Agora over the years. The sizes of the timber are often only available from Agora. Agora has a sustainable approach to the forest that their timber is cut from, which is aligned with our values and is not always a priority with larger companies.
